Post-traumatic growth training for professionals

This unique one-day training introduces professionals to post-traumatic growth (PTG) in female survivors of domestic abuse—offering a powerful shift from focusing solely on recovery to recognising and supporting meaningful psychological growth.

Grounded in real conversations with survivors, focus groups, and extensive research, this interactive course brings PTG to life in a way that is practical, accessible, and deeply relevant to your work.

What is post-traumatic growth?

Post-traumatic growth describes the positive psychological changes that can emerge through the struggle to overcome trauma. Survivors may experience increased personal strength, deeper relationships, a greater appreciation of life, new possibilities, and shifts in meaning or identity. Crucially, growth can exist alongside ongoing pain—it does not require full recovery.

What you’ll gain:

  • A clear, practical understanding of how PTG develops
  • Insight into the psychological processes that support growth
  • Confidence in recognising signs of growth in survivors
  • Tools to help survivors process trauma rather than avoid it
  • Strategies to support meaning-making, resilience, and long-term change

Why this training is different:

This course moves beyond theory. It is built on lived experience, shaped directly by survivors’ voices, and informed by a revised, real-world model of PTG adapted specifically for domestic abuse.

Complex ideas—such as meaning reconstruction and identity change—are made relatable through powerful real-life examples and stories.

A grounded, ethical approach

This training is clear that growth does not justify abuse. Instead, it recognises and values the strength and change that can emerge despite it—helping professionals support survivors in harnessing that growth safely and authentically.

The outcome:

You will leave with a deeper understanding of trauma, growth, and the space in between equipped to help survivors not only cope, but begin to recognise, strengthen, and build on the growth already within them.

Costings – I try to keep these as low as possible because I mostly train the charity sector. Costs depend on a number of factors but I don’t want costs to be a barrier to accessing this training.
